The debut single of hers was released in 2015. The track was highly praised by both critics and the public. It reached the top spot at 19th on both the Canadian Hot 100 as well as Billboard Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone called the song one of their Top Songs in 2015. The singer released her debut Know It All album in the year that followed. The third track, Scars to Your Beautiful was one of five tracks which reached the top spots on Billboard which included Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 in addition to Billboard Hot 100. The track in question was unique because it was based on an interview with the Rap-Up show, many fans shared their experiences through self-doubt and discovering how to accept herself. Cara's music often contains positive thoughts about mental health and the importance of loving oneself. Her inspiration for her music is derived from her own struggle to overcome mental health problems as well as insomnia. In a Reuters interview, she describes her album as half tumultuous and half well-crafted. The therapy she received made her stronger and she encourages others to do the same. Alessia Cara has been a Canadian artist since the year 1996. Her parents are of Italian descent. In 2010, her parents purchased her a brand new guitar which she utilized to develop her passion for the music. She started covering her favorite songs when she was thirteen to show the world she could sing and had the confidence required to become a singer. Sweater Weather became her most well-known song. The record label EP Entertainment EP Entertainment, noticed her and allowed her to write songs.
